Snapshot Of Existing Shore Excursions
The Great Spirit Circle Trail on Manitoulin Island is the only Indigenous-owned business that has been working with the cruise lines in the Great Lakes region. They offer a variety of experiences including heritage tour, museum stop and an outdoor performance to the cruise passengers.
Opportunities For Indigenous Experiences
The relatively low level of small cruise traffic impacts the Indigenous tourism opportunities in this region. Developing an experience specifically for the cruise lines would not be advantageous; however Indigenous tourism providers located along the shores of the Great Lakes could modify their existing products to meet the needs of the cruise industry.
